 Evaluating Media

Today for our cyber smart lesson Mark (from Uru Mankua) Didn't come in so my teacher Miss McCombie told the class what to do. For our activity we had to look for a quote that like and open a google drawing add a background then write in the quote we chose. I chose a quote from Steve Jobs. After we finished that we had to publish it to our blog. Then we had to comment on other people's blog's. Here is mine.

Cartoons, and Comics whats the difference?

Cartoons, and Comics whats the difference?

For our reading we got given an activity were we got a link to a page were there is different activity's to do. We have to have two activity's published on our blog post Friday. For my first activity is to find the difference between a Comic Strip, Comic Book, and a Cartoon. I researches about this and got the information I found and put it on a google doc. Do you like Cartoons and Comics?

What is the Difference Between a Comic Strip, a Comic Book, and a Cartoon?

What is a Comic Strip?

A Comic is a table of drawings in different boxes that tell a story. Printed in a newspaper or magazine.

What is a Comic Book?

A Comic Book is like a Comic Strip just longer and in a book form. A magazine that presents a story, typically featuring the adventures of a superhero.

What is a Cartoon?

A Cartoon is a short or long video of animated things telling a story. Rather than using real people they use objects and different kinds of animations.

What Is The Difference?

Comic and Cartoon are two words that are closely related, but they do not mean the same thing. A Comic is a book or magazine that consists of Comic art that forms a story or a series of something telling a story. Cartoon usually refers to an illustration or series of illustrations that are made into a TV show or other things like that. The difference between the two is that a comic is usually printed on a magazine or newspaper, and a Cartoon is usually a TV show type thing but you can also get a Cartoon printed into a book.

Talking About Our Trees

 Talking About Our Trees

Today we had Mary from Orchards For Schools came back and talked to us about how we have to look after our trees. We learnt that we actually have to cut of any fruit that grows because the tree isn't strong enough to hold all the fruit. After talking to everyone about that we went off to look at out trees to see how they are doing. After that we went and looked at the tree at the front of the school to see how that was doing. Then Miss McCombie told us to go get a ruler to see how much our trees have grown. You do that by putting the bottom of the ruler at the wood part of the tree and see how much is has grown. My first tree grew 4 cm and then my other one grew 26 cm. When we planted the trees I was in a group with Leandri, Rihana, and Summer (from the upper middles). Miss McCombie also got some photos of us and the other plants. Do you like planting?

My Speech About Photography

 My Speech About Photography

This term Belfast school are doing speech's. We got to chose our topic for our speech. I chose photography. We had to make the speech at least two minutes fourty-five seconds to three minutes long. I chose photography because I want to become a photographer when I am older. We had to start with an introduction about what our speech will be about. Then we had to add different facts and information about this topic. Yesterday we said our speech's to our class. If we did well we get to read our speech to the syndicate. After we finished writing our speech we added them into cards. We made the cards on google docs. To make the cards we would go down to the bottom of the doc and go to insert and then table and go two across four down. I have highlighted some of the important parts if you h=just wan to have a skim through it. Here is my speech.

Introduction

Hi today I am going to talk to you about the history and some facts of photography. I chose photography as my speech because I want to become a photographer.

Did You Know That Cat Photos are Much Older Than You Think

You might think that funny cat photos are a trend that started a few years ago. It is still one of the most popular searches in google. This viral trend started in the 1870s when Harry Pointer took a photo of his cat and started it all.

The Most Popular Subjects for Photography in the 1800s Weren’t Alive

A surprising photography fact is that one of the most popular things to take photos of used to be dead bodies. This was a way to remember the physical appearance of the deceased family member.

The Most Viewed Photograph in History

The most viewed photograph is the default wallpaper for the Window XP. This image is named bliss captured by Charles O’Rear in 1996.

How Many Pictures Do We Capture Every Year?

Only a few million images were taken in the 80 years leading up to the first commercial camera. In 1999, Kodak reported that we had taken approximately 80 billion pictures. The average a year is 730 billion photos published onto facebook. For the whole year we take more than 1 trillion photos. Thanks for all the food images and selfies guys!

How Much Money A Photographer Makes Over A Few Years

If you are just starting photography you would make in between $20,394 - $82,284. If you have been doing photography for a while you will make in between  $23,586 - $100,615. For an experienced photographer you would make in between $27,727 - $120,042. If you have been doing photography for over lets say 2-3 years you would make in between $29,299 - $120,313. Thats a lot of money even if you just started.

My Tartan

  My Tartan

For the past week and a half we have been making a Tartan. We had to search up on google our surname then Tartan. We then got a picture up and whatever the base color was and got a piece of paper. After getting the piece of paper we ruled out some lines on the paper 1 cm apart and cut it. We got some colored strips of paper and weaved them into the base color. When we were done weaving we put pva glue all over the paper to stick the strips down. We did the same on the back but added a piece of paper. After the gluing we picked a boarder color and glued them down to the sided of the paper. Here are some photos.

Reading Activity's

 Reading Activity's

These are my reading activity's from last week. For one of the activity's we had to choose five words from The Thief Lord (book I'm reading) and we had to find the definition. For one of the other activity's we had to pick another five words from the book and find the Synonym. For may last activity I had to pick a character from the book and right a diary entry.

The Thief Lord Definitions:

Narrow

Craned

Stocky

Bearings

Quizzical

Narrow: Of small width in relation to length. Limited in extent, amount, or scope.

Craned: stretch out one’s body or neck in order to see something.

Stocky: Broad and sturdily built.

Bearings: A person's way of standing or moving.

Quizzical: Of a person’s expression or behavior. Indicating mild or amused puzzlement.

The Thief Lord Synonyms:

Two can also be said as to or too. Two means the number. To means as in “lets go to the shop”. Too as in “i’m in too” or “me too”.

Tip can be known in a couple different ways. One is meaning the tip of something so the top of something. The other way is money tip as in giving somebody at their job extra money for a tip.

Draft can be known in different ways. It can be known as in a cold draft of wind. The other way is having something like an email for example that you haven’t finished and don't have time so you save it into your drafts.

Tell can also be known in different ways. One way is telling someone something. The other way is when you can tell something is wrong with someone or something like that.

Great is another one but the other way to spelt it is grate. Grate is like I'm going to grate some cheese or carrot. Great is like this is going to be so great as in fun and exciting.

Diary Entry:

Character: Max Hartlieb

Today me and Esther (my wife) have come to Venice to see if we can find Prosper and Bo. We have found a detective so hopefully he can find them. His name Is Victor Getz. We were sitting in his office and Esther was telling him about Prosper and Bo, she gave him a picture. I just hope that he will do the job right. He said that he had never had a case like this, he said that he’s only had some like looking for lost dogs, suitcases etc. He said we were the first clients to come in about some lost children. We have had Bo in our care ever since his mother died 3 months ago, we didn’t take on Prosper. Prosper was very upset about us “stealing” his brother away from him. We have a bit of hope in Victor to find Prosper and Bo. They have been gone for 8 weeks now. Victor had been asking us some questions about our childhood like if we had ever ran away before. I just shook my head no. Victor took on the case. After the interview we left and went back to our hotel.

For the accuracy activity I was in a team with Zara, Tiare, Damon, Laykon, and Dean. For the other one my group was Leandri, Zara, Damon, Ritchie, and Bradley. The games took 30 minutes each.
