Our Place Our Names

Our Place Our Names

This week we are learning our school's different names.  The ones that are highlighted green are the ones that I got right.  We then went through the names and meanings and I have changed it so all of these are in the correct order.

My next step will be to learn how to say some of these names.

I got all this information from the Te Ara Takitini site.

What could I do to remember all these names?

Holiday Learning Journey

Holiday Learning Journey

Measuring Pets!  Choose a stuffed animal to measure. Measure the length of its parts in as many ways as you can! Use a standard and nonstandard unit for each part for example: Ear = 12 centimeters or 1.5 cotton buds. I chose my dog teddy. Here are the measurements of my dog teddy.

My dog is 30 CM long.
My dog's tail is 5 CM long.
My dog's legs are 9 CM long.
My dog's ears are 7 and 1/2 CM long.
My dog's head is 8 CM long.

This activity was really fun I am excited to do the next activities.
Here is a picture of my dog teddy.

Create a new animal by merging two animals together. Why did you chose those animals? Do you think they will be stronger or faster in the wild now? What makes you think that? There are some great examples of Google.

I chose a Giraffe Bear which is a really weird choice but it was creative and I could not find anything about them on google so I went to google drawings and created one here it is.

I tried my best to make a Giraffe Bear.

Would you rather have fur as soft as a Chinchilla
Or
quills (spikes) like a Porcupine

Explain your answer! Feel free to add pictures!

I would rather have fur a soft as a chinchilla because I will be wanted to have as a pet, I will have lots of love, I will be nice and soft.

Fun fact about Chinchillas:

Like other rodents, chinchillas have teeth that grow two to three inches per year.

Fun fact about porcupines:

Some porcupines have up to 30,000 quills on their body.

Values and Expectations

Values and Expectations

This week at Gilberthorpe school our values and expectations for the value is pride in achievement and the expectation is treating others, in Whakamanawa we have to make a blog post about both my first part will be the value and the next part will be about expectation.

Value: pride in achievement

I will show this value by being proud of myself when I accomplish something that I have never accomplished before.

Expectation: treating others

I will show this by being kind to others and helping them out when they need help and I will cheer them on if they accomplish something I will help someone if they get hurt and I will take them to the sick bay for an ice pack.

My next step will be to use my goals for Values and expectations.
