Mariana Trench

Mariana Trench

In Literacy, for the past two weeks, we have been learning about the Mariana Trench.  I used all of the information that I read to help me write my information report.  I spent a whole week on this.  I tried my hardest to make it interesting.  After we finished writing our report we edited it.  I wrote an introduction, the Sea Creatures, how deep the Mariana Trench is, volcanic chimneys, and then lastly a conclusion.  Then we had to get a buddy to check it.  I hope you enjoy.

Introduction:

Do you think the Pacific Ocean is deep? Wait till you hear about the Mariana Trench!  Guess what, if you are a scuba diver you better be careful if you come across the Mariana Trench because if you go down there you might not come out alive.  Read this report to find out about the sea creatures, how deep the Mariana Trench is, and volcanic chimneys.

Sea Creatures:
In the Mariana Trench, there are three different Creatures that I think are very interesting and they are the Water Cucumber, Dumbo Octopus and also the little glow fish that live in the Mariana Trench.  All the Creatures that live in the Mariana Trench are interesting.   They are interesting because when you find out about them and you would probably want to find out more about them and explore them.  They are also interesting because you would never usually think that those kinds of creatures exist.

How deep is the Mariana Trench:
Did you know that the Mariana Trench is 7 miles deep.
Did you know if you put Mount Everest in the Mariana Trench there will still be 3 kilometers of water left. The Mariana Trench is the deepest place in the ocean. It is 11,034 meters (36,201 feet) deep.

Volcanic Chimneys:
In the Mariana Trench, there are volcanic chimneys that shoot out these things called black smokers.  A black smoker is a kind of hydrothermal vent that can be found on the ocean floor.  It is a crack in the planet's surface from which geothermally heated water comes out.

Conclusion:
I have learned that the Mariana Trench is a very interesting place and that I want to learn more about it because it is really fun to learn about.  Before we started to learn about the Trench I knew nothing, now I know lots about the Mariana Trench!
